PRESIDENTS
REPORT
August
2006
Dear
Fellow Lions
This
has been a busy
month for our club. Our members have attended zone and Spring Festival
meetings, visited the P.A. Hospital
and laid a wreath
on Vietnam Veterans Day.
The
Spring Fair
(September 23rd) is only a month away now and things are coming
together
nicely. This is an excellent opportunity for us to show the community
about the
good work that Lions do. Volunteers are needed for the day to perform
lots of
different tasks. Your support on the day would be greatly appreciated
even if
it is only for an hour or so. Bring your family and friends; it should
be lots
of fun.
On
Sunday we attended
Marsden Lions annual croquet day at New Farm Park,
in glorious weather we did battle against the Lions of Woodridge
Kingston and
Marsden.
Lions’ Alex and
Sharyn
made it through to the semi finals along with Lion Julie Holden from
Woodridge
Kingston, unfortunately after a very close game they were not
victorious
and once again the perpetual trophy stayed with Marsden, we may have
better
luck and get the trophy next time.
We have been challenged
by Lions of Woodridge Kingston to (Barefoot Bowls) and in turn we have
challenged other clubs to (Bochee)., that event will not be far away.

It
is a pleasure to
welcome Grace Kuol to represent the Lions Club of Logan Central. Inc.
as our
Miss Personality where all funds raised by her go to Miss Personality
Quest all
money raised by this Quest assists in further research by the Medical
Research Foundation
right here in Brisbane, let's give Grace all the help and
support she
needs for this very worthy cause, with your help I’m sure
Grace will
really enjoy this whole new experience. Our
new name badges have
been commented upon very favourably by other clubs, who I am told are
considering similar one’s for themselves. The badge
promotes you and your
club, wear them as often as you can along with your Lions lapel badge
with
pride
At
our last dinner
meeting we inducted Lion Dan into our club. Tonight we will be
inducting a good
friend of mine, Leonie Burns. Leonie has had a long relationship with
meals on
wheels and has assisted our club at The Big Day Out for Disabled
Children. With
the recent inductions of Lion Jan and Lion Dan this will make three new
members
in consecutive months, let's keep up this momentum. New members bring
new
ideas, energy and enthusiasm which are crucial to the vitality of any
club.
Keep up the good work and
enjoy the Lions experience.

PRESIDENTS
REPORT
July
2006
Dear
Fellow Lions
As
we start our new Lions year I would like to thank you all for
accepting your new positions within the club.
Many
of us have become victims of this nasty virus that's been going
around; hopefully we have all recovered, even though we managed to get
off to a
flying start.
We
have had a meeting with the Qld Ambulance service to discuss
possible ways that Lions could help them in the future.
On
the 5th of July our members assisted at The Big Day Out for Disabled
Children.
This
event was held at Gould Adams Park and involved in
excess of 150 children from over 12 Logan Schools and Organisations.
The
day was run like a mini Olympics and offered entertainment and a
variety of events which catered for all involved.
A
highlight for us
was a four way tug of war which saw the volunteers come out victorious
over the Qld Police Force.
This
event was a credit to the organisers and I truly look forward to
the next one in 2007.
I
would like to thank Leonie Burns and her
Daughter
Tenylle for generously giving up their time to assist Lions on the day.

Our
meetings for the Combined Lions of Logan City Spring Fair continue
as September 23rd draws nearer.
Our
role in this event is to organise entertainment for the day and to
assist the other clubs in setting up and the promotion of Lions. The
Fair will have amusement rides, outdoor movies and fireworks. It will
showcase
Lions and other clubs and organisations within Logan City
Saturday the 22nd of July was the district
Governors Changeover held at the Acacia Ridge Hotel.
Past District Governor Peter Ho handed over the reigns to our new
District
Governor Rob Johnson. We had a good turn out of Logan Central Members
and in
particular Lion Jim, resplendent in his tux. Lions Agnes and Alex
accepted on
behalf of Logan Central an award for starting the Mabel Park Leos Club.
On the 5th of August we
have been invited to attend an information day for Manner Relief to
learn more on how their products
are helping Cancer Patients.
On the 6th of August we have been invited to
tour the PA Hospital to see how Lions funding is
being used to aid medical research, this function is well worth going
to.
This year I look forward to all your input and
ideas. I hope you enjoy your new challenges but I
must stress that you should never feel obliged to take on a project.
Let's
all enjoy this year and have some fun.
